The Colorado Ski Chair Company was created by Colorado
sculptor and metal fabricator Glenn Vogel of
Got Metal. The inspiration for these plush
seating arrangements however, came from Glenn’s daughter. While Glenn was
snowboarding with his daughter Tessa Marie, the lift that they were riding came
to a sudden stop, and the chair that they were sitting on continued to swing.
Tessa turned to her dad and said “wouldn’t it be cool to have a swing like this
in our home instead of a sofa?” Less than a year later, the first two chairs
became a reality, swinging from the great room ceiling of the family’s new home
in Evergreen, Colorado.
Taking his daughters vision, Glenn designed an upscale
ski chair, reaching far beyond the typical retired ski chair that one could
occasionally find hanging outside of a Colorado home hanging from a piece of
chain. Glenn designed not only a piece of highly
refined furniture, but also created a piece of suspended, and more
importantly, animated seating. Only the finest materials are used in his
products, and the level of comfort is truly exceptional.
The heavy duty
precision radial bearing and axle assembly allows the chair to swing quietly,
with minimal effort, and for lengthy periods of time. All that it takes is a
gentle push of your foot. It was important to both Glenn and Tessa that the
chair be so smooth and quiet that a baby would soon fall asleep with the
gentle back and forth rhythm. Tessa insisted that infant seat mounts be
installed for no additional charge, whenever they are requested.
Tessa spoke, we listened.
